Wakefield

Mockingbird Pictures // IFC Films

Summary: Wakefield is a psychological drama about a successful man, Howard Wakefield who, on a whim, abandons his family and former life, only to live as a hermit in the attic of his own garage.  The story is a powerfully haunting look at how easily a man can lose himself in our crowded world.

While staying out of sight but close enough to keep tabs on his family, Howard re-evaluates his life. He learns kindness and mercy from his neighbors, a group of down-syndrome kids adopted by a kindly doctor. In the end, Howard returns to his family, realizing that when stripped of all of his possessions, he still loves and values his family.
